THE PLACERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT BLOODHOUND PROGRAM
To further assist our local law enforcement and better serve this community, the Placerville Police Department’s
Service Dog Program now has a Man Trailing Bloodhound named, “HANGTOWN HANK.”
The unique qualities of the Bloodhound breed allow it to:
•	Search for lost or missing children and adults
•	Find lost Alzheimer’s patients and other mentally challenged people of any age
•	Locate hidden, lost or stolen items of evidentiary value
•	Trail subjects for long distances in a variety of environmental conditions
•	Follow aged trails where scent is minimal
•	Help identify or dismiss persons of interest
•	Indicate direction of travel of specifically sought individuals
Hank was graciously donated to our community in 2008! We are constantly in need of small donations to:
maintain the necessary Man Trailing equipment, food, care and training the hound and handler (we need to
stay proficient).
